At each RYLA, participants are tasked with creating and presenting a project that will help benefit the world on a local, national, or international level.
Fresh Water Focus

“Be a drop in the ocean of change”
Fresh Water Focus is a youth-led branch of the South Asia Pure Water Initiative. The goal of Fresh Water Focus is to raise money to provide villages in India that lack access to clean water with bio-sand water filters. These filters can last up to 35 years and filter out over 99% of all bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. These bio-sand filters provide families, schools, and entire communities in rural South Asian areas with safe, sanitized water.

Crash Course Life Skills
“Life Beyond High School“
Crash Course Life Skills is a set of six workshops based on different life skills that are not taught in a traditional classroom setting. Working alongside the Women and Family Life Center in Guilford, as well as the Guilford Rotary and Interact Clubs, the Crash Course Life Skills project brings in speakers and presenters from the community to address topics such as employment, banking, stress management, college life, renting a house or car, and more. It is open to all high school students from across the district.

To Bee or Not to Bee
To Bee or Not to Bee aims to raise awareness about the globally dying bee population and to help incorporate bee hives in Connecticut communities. They were able to raise money and install a bee hive at Ledyard High School and continue to raise awareness for the #SaveTheBees campaign in their local communities.
